Survivor

I am a survivor
Of one’s lies and
Questionable love.

The agonizing chains
Weighed my bones to their core.
But still,
I trudged on
My body almost lifeless
Struggling against the floor.

A floor assembled
With sharp edges
And tempered glass,
Loose nails
And images of our past.

I fell,
Down,
D
O
W
N
From the cracks too weak to bare
Thy crumbling corpse.
But still,
I trudged on
Through the raven shadows
That swarmed me.
No longer would I be victimized
By your pangs of remorse.

Through the escape of
Your haunting memories
My weights unlocked,
Set free.
Those who
Have Loved and lost,
Trudge on
For that key.
